DAUGHTERS AT THE RANGE

Do you remember when...

Do you remember the first time you were allowed to hold an unloaded 22 rifle? How about the first time you were allowed to chamber a 22 LR bullet, aim, pull the trigger and hit a bullseye target? Many of us grew up with firearms in our home. We were taught to leave them alone even though they were not locked in a safe. Our parents taught us firearm respect. Wasn’t it special to know that Dad, Mom, or your Grandparents felt you were at the age where you recognized the importance of safely handling a firearm? They not only trusted, but expected you to handle the firearm with respect, and they taught us the principles of firearm safety.

These are the memories Daughters At The Range evokes. This event is based on the supposition that boys learn from their Dads, but that the girls (and their Moms) are often left at home. The shooting sports are for all ages, girls and boys–families. This program is designed to promote family bonding while introducing young girls to the sport of shooting.

And now beginning in 2025, Daughters at the Range has expanded to young boys and teens. The Daughters at the Range event, acronym DATR, will be for girls age 8-14. The Dudes at the Range event will be for boys age 8-14. And the Day at the Range event will be for teens age 15-18. Dates to be announced at a later date.

Let’s make new FAMILY MEMORIES! Make plans to attend a DATR event! Registration begins January 2025.

We are looking for volunteers with the following experience: EMT, firearms instructors, range safety officers, medical providers, law enforcement, and anyone else who loves firearms to answer questions, willing to guide people through the gun club, or change targets between shooters.

ALWAYS KEEP THE GUN POINTED IN A SAFE DIRECTION.

Keep the muzzle of all guns pointed away from anything you do not intend to shoot or cause harm.

ALWAYS KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL READY TO SHOOT.

Keep your trigger finger along the frame of the gun until you are on target and have made the decision to shoot.

ALWAYS KEEP THE GUN UNLOADED UNTIL READY TO USE.

Perform a clearance check every time you handle a gun to ensure there is nothing in the chamber or the magazine well.
